The Dispersive Effect Termination (DET 2) profile of the Reynolds Blacklabel 80 makes it the fastest, most stable wheel in the market at its rim depth and as such creates the fastest, most stable, complete rider + wheel unit. Our DET 2 profile design has been further optimized to deliver our lowest drag, most efficient and easiest to ride road wheels to date. To offer such stability in an 80mm deep wheelset instills confidence allowing the athlete to focus on maintaining an efficient and powerful position. Reynolds Aero Versatility - A holistic approach for overall aerodynamic superiority
Designed using the Reynolds Aero Versatility (RAV) design philosophy, the new profile maintains class leading stability while improving outright speed and aerodynamic versatility. RAV Is the philosophy by which all Reynolds Road products are developed. Using advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), validated by wind tunnel and real-world testing, all wheels are developed to optimize overall aerodynamic efficiency, and, in turn, performance. Overall aerodynamic efficiency, according to Reynolds takes drag reduction into great consideration yet places stability as an equal parameter of evaluation. A stable wheel allows the largest aerodynamic component of a bike, the rider, to maintain a more aerodynamic position for longer, creating a twofold efficiency increase.
Reynolds Carbon Rim, Built for Optimum Performance That Lasts
While aerodynamics play perhaps the most obvious role in the performance of these wheels the Reynolds engineering staff took a holistic approach at ensuring that every component of the wheels design and construction was built around performance, reliability and stability. The Carbon Rim 6 (CR6) carbon layup and resin system confers an added degree of stiffness which translates into greater efficiency, power transfer and durability. So durable in fact, that they benefit from Reynolds lifetime guarantee on the structural integrity of the rim.
High Profile Performance, Low Profile Weight
Stable and fast but also incredibly efficient, the BL80’s construction via a Reynolds CR6 laminate design and enhanced resin system allows for an amazingly lightweight rim despite its depth. Not only are they stable enough to be confused with a lower profile, but their scant 1625 grams per set places them closer to mid depth rims of years past. The lower rotational mass requires less energy to bring up to speed and allows for snappier accelerations out of corners or in sprints.
OPTIMIZED FOR MODERN TIRES
While the attention towards stiffness of the unit makes for a more efficient ride, the 21mm hooked tubeless channel allows for further efficiencies in addition to comfort. The wider, tubeless channel is designed to offer a superior tire fit and compatibility with contemporary tire designs, optimized for 28mm tires. Such compatibility allows for not only comfort but lower rolling resistance thanks for larger tires run at comparably lower pressures and the hooked design allows for a greater tire pressure range and is compatible with any tubeless tire.
